senior student council
Consultation with pupils about their views on their school environment and their learning is increasingly accepted in our school.  Giving young people a “voice” as partners in the process of school improvement, leads to more effective learning organisations.

Student Councils and the School Council are two means of ensuring that young people develop positive attitudes and an opportunity to take part in “real life” decision making within their own school setting. At Belmont Academy each class elects two representatives to serve on the Year Council and each Year Council elects two members to serve on the School Council.  As a result we have a horizontal and vertical consultation mechanism which ensures that the opinions of the whole school are canvassed and heard.

The Year Councils are chaired by the House Captains while the School Captains chair the School Council.  In recent times the councils have been consulted on what they would like to see in the new school and we are confident that they will have an important voice in shaping the  Belmont Academy.
